ABOUT SEA CHANGE YOGA

The mission of Sea Change Yoga is to increase access to healing-centered yoga for people living in systemic oppression. We work within the community and institutions to remove financial, physical and cultural barriers for people, creating spaces where every person is honored and celebrated.

We envision a Maine where yoga is an accessible pathway for all people seeking tools for healing and hope for the future.

Your generous donation will help support our programs and partnerships in the community to continue providing the programs that aim to support the healing process.

ABOUT THE CLASS

This is a 75-minute gentle, trauma-informed, and accessible yoga practice that centers gratitude, belonging, and healing energy within a community of shared spirit. Meditation, breath practice, slow movements, use of props, and discovering your own expression of different postures are all on the menu. This class invites you to be gentle, slow down, soften, and reconnect to what sustains you and by extension, those around you.

The practice of yoga reminds us that we are not separate beings. Each person is a sacred, cherished part of the whole. As such, when one person experiences harm, the rest of the whole feels it too. However, when one person experiences joy, the whole expands with that light. When we connect and lift each other up, we connect and lift the whole.

Donations: You are warmly encouraged to offer any amount that feels appropriate for this class, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Sea Change Yoga's mission to offer healing centered practices of yoga & meditation to marginalized and under-supported communities in Maine that have experienced trauma within their life.

Donations are not required to attend. To learn more about Sea Change Yoga, please visit: www.seachangeyoga.org

We combine the traditional healing centered practices of yoga and meditation with modern approaches to trauma informed principles of care. We partner with organizations that support individuals who are incarcerated, in treatment for substance use disorder, have experienced domestic or sexual violence, transitioning from being unhoused, and more!

In my time with Sea Change I have taught at the Maine Correctional Center, Androscoggin County Jail, Portland Recovery Community Center, Milestone Recovery Center, Long Creek Youth Detention Center, My Place Teen Center, and more.

My time with SCY has shaped who I am as a teacher, facilitator, and student of yoga, as an advocate for accessibility, equality and restorative justice, and as a human striving to practice compassion and empathy in all areas of my life.

Your support means the absolute word to me. I am deeply humbled, and eternally grateful.
